Shopping with Kids....
There is a saying that shopping with your husband is like hunting or fishing with the game warden..... in my opinion, shopping with Kids (especially hungry kids) is much, MUCH worse. Thought I would be a nice, sweet, "good" wife and have the kids hang out with me all day so my husband can sleep. I only had a few loose ends to tie up at work, had a couple of errands to run, and...I had to pick up something for dinner. I was up super early this morning out of habit. Was at Walmart by 6 am to grab some laundry soap, socks, and enough cat food to make it until Petsmart opened up. Had a nice time "window shopping", strolling around the store, and picking things up here and there. Grabbed some pizza yeast and a nice Calphalon pizza pan...have been talking about making homemade pizza from scratch....saw the pan and thought I would seize the day. The pan is 16" diameter and was heavier than the shiny, thinner pans...I figured it was a good investment since we sink that much and more into pizza delivery every week. Saw some pizza stones but the one that looked big enough was chipped. If they look like they break that easy in the store, they won't last a day at home. Looked at my watch and had to rush out to meet my husband when he got off work to run him to the lab for testing. Got home....he was asleep. Anyway, had a runaround with the lab at his doctor's office be cause the tests were Ordered by the specialist....guess I will finish this post in a few...My children beckon... :(

Shave and a Haircut....Two Cents!
Just buzzed my husband's head because his hair was growing out a little uneven. Looks much better now. Offered to buzz his chest and back...or even wax him LOL but he wouldn't go for it. My daughter was hovering because she wanted to try. Her dad declined because he likes his ears where they are. While the clippers were out, we decided to even out Silky's fur. Paul tried to give him a trim with scissors the other day and even though he is a tuxedo cat, he has dark orange tones in his undercoat making his impromptu haircut the other day pretty obvious. Mary Ellen held Silky while I sheared him....he really enjoyed it. Not sure if him playing with the fur on the kitchen floor was a show of appreciation or if he was trying to put it back on. He was purring a lot and in a very amorous mood.....wait for date night Mr. Kitty!
Acute Renal Failure vs Lab Error...
Just got back in from my husband's nephrology appointment in Newark. The doctor was very courteous and professional. My husband's cardiac catheterization is on hold because his creatinine level jumped up to 2 . 34 in less than a month. He has had an arteriogram to check on the blockage in his legs...plaque goes everywhere..it doesn't care. That contrast is nephrotoxic as well as some of the meds he was taking...until today. He goes for STAT blood work in the morning and has to schedule a renal arteriogram and ultrasound AS A P. Man...I'm beginning to think that cars aren't the only things with warranties...
Don't you HATE when that happens...?
Got home from work about 1130. Fed the kids a quick lunch. Rushed to get in the van and head to my husband's appointment with the vascular surgeon. Drove into the area near the Jersey City courthouse...found the building. Navigated a tiny parking lot...no spots naturally. Took a bit of finagling to get the van turned around, then a spot appeared. Wove our way through the building (with the occasional bickering)...finally found office... a few minutes late. Waited patiently while receptionist finished up a phone call and then discovered that the vascular surgeon uses the office on Tuesdays today it's the podiatrist. Fun.
First Day of Summer...for my kids!
Yesterday was the last day of school for my 2 younger kids. Today they get to sleep in and have a day of leisure. Might not be as fun as they may think....I have to go to work for a few hours, my husband is just coming off night shift, my 26 year old son is watching them AND it looks like it's going to be a rainy day. I wonder what is on their agenda today...probably tv and computer so they stay quiet enough for my husband to sleep.
I have been working as a School Nurse for about 9 years now. My current assignment has been at a small, private school in Northern New Jersey. The kids at my school have been out for almost a week now, but I have to go in for a bit to tie up some loose ends. I like to have all of my known transfers ready before I leave for Summer as well as start the health records for incoming students. That way the start of the next school year is a lot smoother. Plus it gives parents a chance to catch up on immunizations and get the paperwork started for students with special healthcare needs like asthma and food allergies.
Hope to finish everything up so I can go to my husband's doctors appointments. As a mom and a nurse I am "on call" 24/7/365.
Looks like the kitties don't want to wait until the kids wake up to feed them. Breakfast is served..... :)
